Getting a better conversion from your website is very important. Why? Because your conversion rate is measured by the number potential visitors who are going to buy your products or services. Many website owners focus solely on to bring a lot of visitors to the site but they hardly focus on making that visitors to buyers. This problem can be solved by making some simple changes to their existing site or layout which will have a huge impact on overall conversion rate of the website.

Below is 10 techniques to improve your sites conversion with minimal expense.

1. Make it easy for Users – Make it easy for the user to use the site. It sounds pretty simple but there several elements in the design which make the visitors difficult to use the website, like for example, accessibility of your website, browser compatibility and finally the usability of the site. A potential visitors always look for more information about the products and services before they make a purchasing decision. Things like these can reduce the chance reduced sales from your website.

2. Value your Users Time – Time is important for everyone. If you website have too many complicated questions and hard to find things what the visitors is looking for is making the visitor to waste their time. This means scaring your visitors away. Some of the common mistake are asking too much information which is not required, having several steps to take action, important information are not able to find it easily etc.

So you need to keep them honest to increase your conversion for example having physical address, a valid phone number and some online trust certificates will increase the credibility of your website in the eyes of the user and increase your conversion rate.

4. Have a clear Return Policy/Privacy Policy – As I said above online customers always need to trust you so make clear everything in your return policy if you are having a e-commerce kind of site or privacy policy if you are collecting a lead. Online visitors don’t like their personal information being distributed to others. Also make these link to these pages easily accessible for example on a product page you can find return policy easily it can increase conversion as well as on the contact us form if you have privacy policy prominently placed can increase the conversion rate.

5. Multiple ways to reach you – All online visitors are not alike they are different in their approach as well as the online behavior is different too. They user different ways to reach you or find information on your website. Some online buyers like to talk before they buy other prefer email communication etc. So user multiple ways like live chat, phone number in all pages, contact us page easily accessible, forums if they want to discuss about your products and a blog as well to community with the user. Offering multiple ways to communicate increase your conversion rate.

User Reviews – This technique applies to ecommerce sites if users can provide honest opinion about your products through user review it will help the new users to read these opinions and make a decision. As testimonials increase your credibility users review will increase the chances of increasing your conversion rate. Provide a place for users to give their feedback about your products.

Also there are several places online where you can promote your online discount codes. If you use Google local listing they also allow you have promo code for your business. These extra steps with online discount codes can increase your conversion as well.

If you could offer shipping calculators or a page specifically for shipping with all the cost details the customers would have a clear idea how much it is going to cost them before they buy. A good pricing strategy will always increase the conversion rate of your ecommerce site.

9. Tracking with Analytics – Imagine a football team coach, coaching a team without keeping a track of which strategies worked and didn’t work to beat the competition. This is the same with if you didn’t use a web analytic tool to track the activities on a website. Several website owners loose many opportunities to increase leads and sales because they fail to track and have a strategy to increase their ROI. In addition tracking the site through analytics will also tell why they are buy and why they are not. Web Analytics are also the key to reducing shopping cart abandonment rate. Use web analytics to measure the drop off in the sales funnel or buying process.

10. Website Testing – Not all websites are perfect it takes time and effort to make a website work. Now a days there are tools to test your website to find which one works and which didn’t work. Using tools like Google website optimizer you can test each every page of your website and see which layout or changes in design element got your the maximum sales. Targeted traffic is key to any affiliate marketing success. Pay Per Click allows you to do that, But several affiliate marketers fail this business model why? There are several factors contributing for your failure. I have created a list of things which you need to follow if you are struggling.

1) Good Cash Flow – If you have limited cash flow you might struggle with your Affiliate PPC campaign. I would recommend having a certain budget just for PPC.

2) Bad Keyword Research – If you keyword research is not done properly you will face problem. Keyword is the foundation for any PPC campaign. Learn how to do keyword research from experts and master yourself.

3) Non Attractive Ads- If you ad copy is not attractive to the visitors, it won’t get click, you would be loaded with impression but no clicks will hurt your Click through rate.

4) Increase Daily Budget – Have a good amount for your Daily budget depending upon your cost per click, because if you have a small budget for a higher cost per click you won’t get enough clicks, a healthy PPC campaign should get at least 100-200 clicks per day to sale.

5) Eliminate Negative keywords – negative keywords can ruin your PPC campaign, Identifying negative keywords is a hilarious task, watch your Web stats daily and add the negative keywords which is costing you money.

6) Remove the non converting keywords – If some of your keywords is getting good click through rate (CTR) but no conversion then that is not a good PPC keywords.

7) Multiple landing pages – Don’t have just one landing page create multiple landing pages and see who they are doing? And adopt the one which converts better.

8) Check the visitors bounce rate – going through your web analytics daily will help you to identify how much time each visitor is spending on your site if they are leaving at 0 seconds then you are wasting lot of money.

9) Using Position preference – If you have ever check the Google SERPs heat map the maximum clicks you get is at the top 2-3 spot if you PPC ads is not showing up there then you are not getting potential customers. Google Adwords allows you to have a position preference use that.

10) Give some time to your campaign to grow – PPC advertisings is not like sowing seeds today and reaping tomorrow, you need to give some time to grow your campaign for a while at least couple of months.

11)Don’t try too many niches – Most of the time affiliate marketer fail especially newbie’s try to get into different niches. Stick to one niche until you start making profit and create a methodology. Once you are successful you can leverage that same methodology to other niches which you want to start.

12) Change your Ad copy after few weeks – Once your campaign have reach couple of weeks and still struggling tweak your ads little bit may be a small change which can increase you click through rate.

13) Visit Google Adwords blog – Make it as a point to visit Google Adwords blog almost every day, if you have not been there go to http://adwords.blogspot.com. So that you can keep yourself updated on the changes to the Google Adwords system.

14) Pause & resuming your campaign – When you find your campaign is doing bad on certain days most of the affiliate marketers advertisers pause their campaign for few days or weeks which won’t help you to analysis you campaign. This is not a good strategy to follow.

15) Focus on converting keyword phrases – If you are not focusing on keywords which are converting and getting your sales you will soon leave more money on the table. Widening your most performing keywords and create separate ads groups based on that.

16)Contacting your Affiliate Manager – How many of the affiliate marketers have contacted their affiliate manger in a month. I try to keep in touch with them almost every day for different reason. Contacting affiliate mangers can help you a lot to know about your campaign and understand about the products you are promoting.

17)Placing conversation code on Thank you page – Promoting affiliate products through Pay Per Click is all about tracking and calculation. Tell your affiliate manager to place your conversion code on the merchant’s thank you page.

18)Try the Product yourself – Before you start promoting a merchants affiliate product have you tried it before. Trying the product yourself is a wise thing because it will show how your customers will go through the process. If the website has long checkout process then you will loose money on your campaign.

19)Watch out for other promoters in your niche – Before promoting the product watch out for other promoters in your niche how they are promoting and how long they are promoting, if they are surviving their campaign then they are making money so it is a profitable niche.

20)Try different Pay per click engine – If you’re not having a successful campaign in certain pay per click engine then try different PPC websites. Try Yahoo, MSN, 7Search, MIVA and others.

21)The last and the final one is Determination – If you are determined that you are going to succeed in Affiliate Marketing through PPC then set goals and just focus to achieve that.
