An incident with one of my affiliate program inspired me to write this blog post. I run an affiliate program on Powerpoint which uses to generate me a couple of hundred dollars revenue every month. Last month the Merchant site updated their website and added more features to it. Which is good for the affiliates because now you have more products to promote?

But the new added features caused a big problem with my affiliate login, I was not able to login and access my stats as well as my earnings, this caused me quite worried. I wrote couple of email to my Affiliate Manager, Serge Who instantly replied back saying that you earnings is been tracked and is sales is been added to the account and they are trying to fix the issued very soon. Finally my monthly commission arrived in time that was when I was satisfied. As I said that I want to ask all affiliate marketers out there that is your affiliate relationship is all based on trust or just the percentage of commission you get.

Serge is a perfect example of a good affiliate manager. An affiliate relationship isn’t just based on money; it’s also based on trust. The affiliate marketer has to trust the merchant that you will get paid out accurately on time and won’t give you a hassle. From Affiliate point of view is a program which offers 40% commission but never pays on time isn’t worth the effort. It is better to take a program which offers 8% commission on a consistently without worrying. Affiliate loyalty is key to any affiliate marketing success.

If you are joining a new affiliate program, my personal opinion is that one of the crucial step each affiliate marketer should take is that develop a trustworthy relationship with the merchant as quickly as possible and never spoil that reputation. An each affiliate manager should do it vice versa.

Finally, since trust can be a vital part of affiliate marketing, it may be worthwhile to keep it alive.
